Qatar announced the defeat of an oil tanker by a missile launched from Iran
Iran launched three cruise missiles on Wednesday morning, one of which hit an oil tanker that was parked in the coastal waters of Qatar. This was announced on April 1 by the Ministry of Defense of the Emirate.
"Our armed forces, by the grace of God, successfully intercepted two cruise missiles, and the third missile hit an oil tanker leased by Qatar Energy in the territorial waters of Qatar," the ministry said in a statement posted on the social network X (formerly. Twitter).
The military added that there were 21 people on board the ship. All of them have been evacuated now, there are no casualties.
A spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid al-Ansari, said on March 31 that Iran had crossed many "red lines" with regard to Qatar and the kingdom reserves the right to respond. Al-Ansari noted that Iran's attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and the closure of the sea route pose a threat to global energy security. Doha is working together with international partners in the area and insists on supply chain security.
Tasnim news agency reported on March 27 that five Arab States of the Persian Gulf had provided the United States with their territory and airspace for strikes on Iranian territory.
