Finland calls Europe's rejection of Russian energy resources suicide
Plans for the European Union (EU) to abandon oil and gas from Russia are "Eurosamicide." This was announced on April 1 by Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish national Conservative Freedom Alliance party.
"An apocalyptic energy crisis is looming in Europe, and the desire to stop all energy supplies from Russia is European self—murder," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Mema added that Europe, trying to sever all ties with Russia, is choosing the "path of self-destruction" of its own economy. He admitted that the abandonment of Russian energy resources would lead to "mass poverty" of Europeans.
Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), on March 28 also compared ignoring the energy crisis by European countries with an attempt to postpone the ringing of a loud alarm clock.
Prior to that, on March 26, Dmitriev said that Europe and the UK would beg Russia to restore oil and gas supplies. According to Dmitriev, the West has exposed itself by refusing to supply domestic resources.
