Mass protests took place in Belgrade after the death of a student
Mass protests have taken place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, amid a police investigation into the death of a student at the University of Belgrade. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on April 1.
At the same time, the rallies also have a political reason.
"Today's protest is tied not only to the fact that the police entered the university building, but also to the fact that the student initiative lost in the local elections," said journalist Sergei Petrov.
It is noted that the incident with the death of a 25-year-old girl occurred on March 27. A student fell out of the window of one of the buildings. Later, on March 31, about 60 law enforcement officers entered the administration building and began seizing documents and physical evidence.
In Belgrade last November, thousands of protesters took to the streets, opposing the construction of the Trump Tower hotel complex in the city center. The building is planned to be built on the site of the former headquarters of the Yugoslav army, which was destroyed by NATO bombing and has been in ruins since 1999. The protesters surrounded the place in an attempt to protect the cultural heritage site.
