Over 136 thousand families have received maternity capital since the beginning of 2026. This was announced by the Ministry of Labor on March 31.

"More than 136,600 families have received maternity capital since the beginning of 2026. For the entire duration of the program, almost 15.3 million people have received matkapital," the message says in the MAX messenger.

The ministry clarified that the amount of maternity capital in 2026 is 728.9 thousand rubles if the first child was born after January 1, 2020 or the second before that date.

If the second child was born after January 1, 2020 and the maternity capital for the first one has already been received, the amount is 234.3 thousand rubles. In the case when the second child was born after January 1, 2020, and the maternity capital for the first was not received, the amount of payment reaches 963.2 thousand rubles.

The funds of the maternity capital can be used to improve housing conditions, children's education, monthly payments for children under three years of age, parents' funded pension, as well as for social adaptation and integration into society of children with disabilities.

Nikita Chaplin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, said that starting in 2026, maternity capital can be used to repay housing loans issued by microcredit companies that are wholly owned by the subjects of the Russian Federation. The deputy explained that we are talking about regional microcredit companies, where 100% of the capital belongs to a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, and each region can have only one such organization.
