Romania intends to create confrontational relations with Russia. This was announced on March 31 by the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev.

"Today, Romania has defiantly embarked on a course of confrontation with Russia. <...> The political dialogue between our countries has been frozen, economic cooperation has been interrupted, contacts have been suspended in almost all areas, except for diplomatic workers," Lipaev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He added that Russia's position is not to impose partnerships, but the embassy does not accept an arrogant tone towards them.

Lipaev said on March 14 that the Romanian authorities, due to the fictitious "Russian threat," had directed efforts to expand the presence of foreign military units in the country. At the same time, Bucharest prefers not to notice the threat of the country's participation in the NATO military alliance.
