- Rospotrebnadzor reported the continued incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza in the Russian Federation
Currently, the seasonal incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza persists in Russia. This was reported on March 31 in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the results of observations on the 13th week of 2026, 641 thousand cases of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza were registered in the country, which corresponds to the indicator of the previous week. The incidence is at the level of mid-October 2025.
At the same time, a decrease in the number of flu cases by 21.9% is reported.
"According to the results of laboratory monitoring, influenza A(H3N2) viruses predominate in the structure of influenza viruses, and influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and B viruses also continue to circulate, but their share is not large. The structure of respiratory viruses is dominated by MS viruses, rhinoviruses and metapneumoviruses," the ministry said.
As preventive measures, Rospotrebnadzor advised Russians to wash their hands frequently, ventilate rooms, and avoid close contact with patients. You should also seek medical help if you feel unwell, have a high fever, or feel weak.
According to the regional departments of Rospotrebnadzor, at least 20 Russian regions have recorded an increase in the number of cases of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza, Izvestia calculated on March 12. Thus, there were 20.4% more cases in the Leningrad Region, and 13.9% more cases in the Penza Region. In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the incidence of influenza increased by 37%, with the most infected among children aged three to six years. And in the Tyumen region, the number of SARS cases increased by 19.6%.
