- Rubio announced the continuation of the exchange of messages with Iran through intermediaries
Contacts between the United States and Iran continue, including through third countries. This was announced on March 30 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"As I said, these [negotiation] efforts are just beginning. Messages are being sent back and forth, and some negotiations are underway, including through intermediaries," the head of the American Foreign Ministry explained on ABC television.
At the same time, Rubio stressed that Washington still prefers a diplomatic settlement of differences, but is ready for any development of events. Referring to the timing of the conflict, the Secretary of State expressed confidence that it would end soon. According to him, the United States expects to complete its tasks within a few weeks, not months.
On the same day, US President Donald Trump said on March 30 that if he did not reach an agreement with Iran and if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened for business in the near future, the US military would end its stay in the region, completely destroying all Iranian energy facilities.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagai said on March 30 that Iran had not held any talks with the United States recently. He noted that the enemy is trying to use war to prevent the truth from reaching the Iranian people and the world community, and in this context is attacking journalists and the media.
