Residents of Dagestan told about flooding of apartments during heavy rains
As a result of the heavy rains that hit the Republic of Dagestan, hundreds of cars, apartments and private houses were flooded. Izvestia on March 29 shows footage of the effects of bad weather.
"These are my windows. Elementary water was at least up here. With this, with this dirt, with all these cases. <...> Just imagine what's going on in the apartment. It's all there. Considering the current prices for repairs, furniture, and what happened, and considering that everything has gone bad, I understand this perfectly well, although I can't go in...> there will be damage in the region of two million [rubles]," said local resident Khadizhat Chumalayeva.
Another local resident, Tazhudin Akhmedov, added that a "global flood" was taking place in Dagestan, which neither manholes nor already filled drainage systems could cope with. The man added that the basement of his private house was completely submerged, which saved the building itself from flooding.
Motorist Rafael Hasanov also said that his Gazelle, as well as two apartments, were affected by heavy rainfall. According to him, the water level reaches 50 cm.
The day before, the Dagestan administration had introduced a high-alert regime throughout the republic. It will be valid until Monday, March 30th. It was emphasized that Makhachkala, Derbent, as well as the settlements of Kuppa, Akhty, Izberbash, Kasumkent and Kumukh suffered the most due to bad weather.
On March 29, the press service of the main directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the republic announced the introduction of an emergency regime in the Khasavyurt region of Dagestan. In the morning of the same day, evacuation was launched from the village of Adilotar located there due to the fact that water flooded over 460 houses.
