WP pointed to the concerns of US allies in Asia about the conflict in Iran.
U.S. allies in Asia fear that the conflict in the Middle East will drag on and divert Washington's military resources and attention. The Washington Post (WP) wrote about this on March 28.
According to officials, the leaders of the Asian countries that are allies of the United States are anxiously watching the escalation of Washington's conflict with Tehran.
"In addition to the sharp rise in oil prices and the shortage of natural gas, which are already causing economic damage, the war is diverting military resources and tactical attention from the Indo-Pacific region," the article says.
Earlier, part of the American missile defense system was relocated from South Korea to the Persian Gulf. Thousands of Marines stationed in Japan were also ordered to head West.
The publication recalls that the meeting of US President Donald Trump with Chinese President Xi Jinping was postponed until mid-May.
"Asian leaders are anxiously awaiting when the Trump administration will find a way out of the situation with Iran," writes The Washington Post.
According to the newspaper, American diplomats are now trying to assure Asian governments that the Trump administration is "committed to fulfilling its role as a guarantor of security in the Indo-Pacific region."
On the same day, Bloomberg reported that the Gulf states are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction with the actions of the United States in the context of the conflict with Iran. According to the agency, they question the reliability of American security guarantees and express concern about the lack of a clear strategy from the Trump administration.
