France reports on grandiose plans that do not correspond to reality. This was announced on March 27 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, commenting on reports that Parisians were ready to send a fleet to the Strait of Hormuz.

"Well, France is planning. It always sounds a little more grandiose than it actually turns out to be," the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) newspaper quotes Merz as saying.

The German Chancellor also noted that Paris would not be able to guarantee peace in the Middle East without the help of other European states.

On March 26, US President Donald Trump criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron on Fox News, accusing him of an untimely reaction to the conflict with Iran. According to the American leader, Macron was in no hurry to send warships and contacted him after the outbreak of hostilities.
