Calls for the restoration of relations with Russia have become more frequent in Europe. This was reported on March 23 by the Serbian newspaper Politika.

"They (the European leaders. They scratched their heads here and realized that Russia is a safer source, closer, cheaper and, therefore, much more acceptable," the publication says.

It is noted that Russia's actions over the past quarter century have been "much more predictable" than those of the United States. At the same time, Europe has not been the center of world politics for a long time, the newspaper writes. According to the article, Europeans, united by a common fear, are much closer to good-neighborly relations today.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb said on March 17 that the time is coming for the European Union when it will need to restore direct dialogue with Russia. The politician stressed that cooperation with Moscow should take place on behalf of the entire association, and not through bilateral relations with each of the EU countries.

Belgian MEP Rudy Kennes said on March 22 that a deal with Russia could help Europe avoid an energy crisis, but such a step was not taken on time. According to him, European countries could stabilize the situation in the energy market.
