Trump expressed hope for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky
US President Donald Trump expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will meet and conclude a deal. He announced this on March 24 during a meeting with reporters in the Oval Office.
"I would like President Putin and President Zelensky to meet and make a deal. I think they're getting close to it, but I've been saying this for quite some time. You'll realize that hate doesn't help you make deals. These people don't particularly like each other," the American leader said, speaking about Russia and Ukraine.
Trump repeated that resolving the Ukrainian crisis turned out to be much more difficult than he expected; and that at first he thought of it as the "easiest" solution.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the situation surrounding the presidential elections in Ukraine on March 24. He said that the Kiev regime will have to determine the timing of the legitimization of the powers of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
