An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 was recorded off the coast of the Kingdom of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (ESCC) reported on March 24.

The epicenter of the tremors recorded at 07:38 Moscow time was located about 138 km west of the island of Neiafu, the second most populous island of the Kingdom of Tonga.

The epicenter of the natural disaster was located in the ocean at a distance of 283 km from the capital of the Kingdom of Tonga, the city of Nuku'alofa. According to the intensity of the tremors in the epicenter, the earthquake is estimated as strong.

There was no information about damage or casualties.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck southwest of Samoa on March 22. The epicenter of the tremors was located 184 km southwest of the capital of the island state of Apia, which is home to more than 40 thousand people. The hearth was located at a depth of 10 km.
