- Dmitriev pointed out the EU's miscalculations and called for an end to the Russophobic policy.
Europe should recognize past miscalculations in energy, strategy and geopolitics, change the leadership of the European Union and reconsider its policy towards Russia. This opinion was expressed on March 20 by Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
"I told you. Europe needs to admit its strategic, energy, and geopolitical mistakes, atone for the blame, and change the EU's leadership and Russophobic approach. As predicted, a devastating energy tsunami will soon devastate Europe. As has been explained many times, Europe needs Russia for survival," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Thus, he commented on the FT Energy post, which notes that Europe needs to prepare for a protracted energy crisis right now.
On March 19, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, ruled out any possibility of EU countries purchasing gas from Russia. She stated that the European Union will continue to transform the energy sector, converting it to green and European-produced energy.
Dmitriev said on March 17 that Ursula von der Leyen was not coping well with the energy security of the European Union. At the same time, he noted that the EU expects a sharp increase in gas prices in 2026, which will create serious risks for industry and households.
