On March 19, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), announced the negative consequences of the energy policy of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Earlier, he said that von der Leyen is not coping well with the energy security of the European Union. According to him, she is good at showing a political theatrical performance.

"Winter is coming for Ursula, as the risks associated with her catastrophic decisions in the energy sector are becoming a reality," Dmitriev wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund said on March 17 that the European Union expects a sharp increase in gas prices in 2026, which will create serious risks for industry and households. He also referred to HSBC's forecast that natural gas prices in Europe would be 40% higher than previously expected levels. Dmitriev believes that this is just the beginning of a more serious crisis.
