The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has eliminated the commander of the Imam Hussein division, part of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Beirut. This was announced on March 18 by the military's press service.

"The Israel Defense Forces struck in the Beirut area and eliminated terrorist Hassan Ali Marwan, who was the commander of the Imam Hussein division after his predecessor was killed about a week ago," the Telegram channel said.

It is added that Marwan was previously responsible for the division's operations and was appointed its commander after the liquidation of the former head of the unit, Ali Maslam Tabaje. It is noted that Tabaje was killed along with his deputy and several other senior militants.

According to the IDF, the previous division commander was also eliminated earlier. Thus, Marwan became the third commander of the unit to be killed since the beginning of the operation against Iran.

It is reported that Marwan was responsible for coordination between the division and senior military officials of Hezbollah and the Quds Force, as well as directing rocket and drone launches towards Israel and IDF units in southern Lebanon.

On the same day, Al Mayadeen TV channel provided Izvestia with footage of the aftermath of an IDF strike on a 12-storey apartment building in the Bashoura neighborhood of Beirut. On March 18, the Israeli army announced that it had begun attacking targets of the Shiite organization Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
