Experts named the most frequent car breakdowns in Russia
The most common problems of cars in Russia are the wear of suspension elements, silent blocks and ball bearings. On March 18, experts from Uremont told Izvestia about this, who compiled a rating of the three most popular malfunctions in cars aged 5-10 years.
The rating was based on the most frequent requests recorded by the aggregator's AI assistant in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Krasnodar and other five cities.
Experts called the wear of suspension elements, silent blocks and ball bearings the most common "age" problem of cars. By five to seven years of operation, the resource of rubber elements is coming to an end, and the quality of Russian roads, coupled with the climatic nature of the country, accelerate this process. Drivers begin to hear the characteristic knocking in the area of the wheels, driving over bumps. Today, it is possible to fix this malfunction for an average of 12.5 thousand rubles — this amount includes replacing the set on one lever with mandatory subsequent adjustment of the wheel angles (camber-convergence).
The second place in the rating was taken by a problem with the ignition system — the failure of coils and candles. As experts have pointed out, Russian car owners are not in the habit of changing candles on time — cars are operated until they start to "troit". By the age of five or seven, this is fraught not only with the replacement of candles, but with the appearance of related malfunctions with additional costs. The average cost of replacing coils or candles varies greatly, but on average the problem is solved for 10 thousand rubles. This price includes computer diagnostics to identify the problem cylinder and the replacement of the candle set/coil itself.
Completing the top three most common problems is oil leakage. The valve cover gasket, oil seals and nozzles eventually turn into "oak" joints that no longer keep tight. The reason is the natural aging of materials and constant temperature fluctuations under the hood. The problem can be fixed for an average of 7.5 thousand rubles: this amount will include work on replacing gaskets and washing the engine to accurately determine that the leak has been fixed.
"Over the past few months, experts have been talking about changes in car ownership culture. And it really is. Any changes require not only awareness, but also a clear coordinate system. Many cars were purchased more than 15 years ago, and the need for complex and complex repairs is growing," said Artur Terisayan, founder of Uremont and Moscow's public business ombudsman for Transport.
Earlier, on March 12, it was reported that prices for original spare parts for Chinese cars decreased in Russia at the end of winter. According to analysts who studied the prices of spare parts in the insurance basket for Chinese passenger cars from aggregators, from January to February 2026, the average price decreased by 0.9% and amounted to 74.5 thousand rubles.
