For the first time in the history of Russian motorsport, a 12-hour endurance race will be held as a stage of the Russian championship. It will take place on May 23 of this year at the Moscow Raceway near Moscow, according to the press service of SMP Racing, which was received by Izvestia on March 17.

The race starts at 11:00 and ends at 23:00. According to the company, the competition will be the first stage of the SMP RSKG Endurance endurance racing series and will set a new record for races on domestic tracks. Similar competitions held earlier lasted no more than six hours. This year, the series will host only one 12-hour race.

Such famous drivers as the first Russian Formula 1 racer Vitaly Petrov, racing driver Alexander Smolyar, who fought in the youth series with one of the current F1 leaders Oscar Piastri, as well as the most decorated Russian racer Irina Sidorkova, will take part in the race. She will lead an all-female crew, and her partner will be Victoria Blokhina.

These athletes will pilot the BR03 cars, created in Moscow by BR Engineering. At least two Lamborghini Huracan GT3S and several Mercedes-AMG GT3s will compete against Russian sports prototypes.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that BMW had turned an April Fool's joke into a race car that would launch the 24 Hours of Nurburgring marathon.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
