The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said it is conducting "targeted" ground operations in southern Lebanon.

"In recent days, Israeli forces of the 91st Division have launched limited and targeted ground operations against key strongholds of the Shiite Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon, aimed at strengthening forward defenses," the Israeli army's press service said in a Telegram channel.

It is specified that the deployment of troops was preceded by massive airstrikes and artillery shelling of targets associated with Hezbollah.

"This activity is part of a broader defensive effort to establish and strengthen an advanced defensive position, <...> in order to eliminate threats and create an additional level of security for the residents of northern Israel," the statement said.

On March 2, the IDF announced the start of an offensive operation against Hezbollah, and on March 14, according to Axios, it signaled its intention to expand its ground operation in Lebanon.

During this time, the Israeli side attacked 10 weapons depots of the Lebanese movement, attacked its command posts and eliminated the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who acted as a coordinator in the rocket forces of the Hezbollah movement in Beirut.

On March 12, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Hezbollah a double response to the attacks launched by the movement on his state. Speaking about this, he emphasized the need to protect all Israeli citizens.
