Moscow is shaping cooperation with Washington based on a realistic perception and assessment of its steps and policies. This was announced on March 14 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We keep the assessments that were given in connection with specific actions and steps, and this is how we build our contacts — based on a realistic, I emphasize this word again, perception and assessment of what they are doing. We have been doing it, and we continue to do it," she said on the TV Center channel.

According to her, the Russian Federation builds cooperation with those states with which it considers it necessary to maintain contacts based on national interests.

Zakharova recalled that Washington's statement about recognizing the mistakes of the previous American administration in what the deputy noted was a "Russophobic direction" was positively received in the capital.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 13 that the Kremlin was not afraid that the United States, due to its involvement in the conflict with Iran, would take a back seat to resolving the situation in Ukraine. When asked about a new round of trilateral talks, the Kremlin representative noted that there were no specific agreements on the date and place yet.
