Tourists who filmed missile attacks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) may be deported or imprisoned. This was reported on March 13 by The Guardian newspaper, citing sources.

"One video can quickly lead to dozens of people being investigated on criminal charges. The punishment in such cases may include up to two years in prison," the publication says.

In addition, tourists may face a fine of up to 200 thousand dirhams ($ 54 thousand). It is clarified that filming missile attacks in the UAE qualifies as a "cybercrime."

According to the newspaper, charges were brought against 20 people, including one British citizen.

The Telegraph newspaper previously reported that a 60-year-old British citizen was detained in Dubai, who allegedly filmed rocket attacks on the city. Rada Stirling, Executive Director of Detained in Dubai, confirmed to The Telegraph that she is providing assistance to the detainee's family. According to her, the UAE authorities are showing "hypersensitivity" due to concerns that foreigners may be Iranian spies.
