At least one person was killed in an attack on two tankers near the port of Basra in Iraq. This was reported on March 12 by the Shafaq News agency, citing a security source.
"The attack on two oil tankers in regional waters near the port of Basra was carried out by a booby-trapped boat, resulting in the death of at least one person," the publication says.
Sabereen news agency reported on March 11 that a tanker was attacked off the coast of Iraq, and a fire broke out. Later, Iraqi analyst Salman Haider reported on the social network X that the Iraqi Navy had rescued the ship's crew.
