China is ready to strike at Japan in case of any encroachment on sovereignty or threat to security. This was announced on March 11 on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China amid reports of Tokyo's rapid deployment of high-range missiles.

"We warn the Japanese side that a return to the old path of belligerent militarism only leads to self-destruction. If Japan dares to violate China's sovereignty and security by force, it will inevitably suffer a crushing defeat," Senior Colonel Jiang Bin is quoted as saying in the publication.

He also noted that the missiles deployed by Japan have a range of about 1,000 km and cover the coastal areas of neighboring countries. According to Jiang Bin, such actions by Japan indicate the abandonment of claims to an "exclusively defensive" principle, a strategy of "passive defense" and a policy of "self-defense."

The Kyoto Shimbun newspaper reported in November last year that the United States had removed ground-based installations of Typhon medium-range missiles, which were located at the Iwakuni base in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on January 20 that Typhon is still located in Japan. He stressed that the deployment of Typhon mobile batteries at the Japanese base in September 2025 and plans to deploy missiles on the island pose a threat to regional stability.

The Japan Times (JT) newspaper, citing sources, reported on March 9 that the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces (SSF) delivered launchers and other equipment for long-range missiles to the Kangun base in Kumamoto. Preparations are underway ahead of the deployment of the upgraded Type-12 missile system ("Type-12").
