The consequence of the US and Israeli airstrikes on oil facilities in the Iranian capital was the so-called black rain, which caused headaches, coughing, breathing and skin problems among the townspeople. This was reported on March 10 by The New York Times (NYT).

Locals complain of severe discomfort after contact with sediment. One woman shared with the publication that after a walk she noticed strange black spots on her skin and felt itchy. Another complained of shortness of breath and pain in the eyes, similar to the sensations of exposure to tear gas.

Motorists noticed the formation of a sticky layer of oil on the car bodies. Experts emphasized the danger of the chemical composition of the precipitation that arose after the combustion of oil.

Experts noted that exposure to gorenje products negatively affects the health of the population, causing respiratory diseases, cardiovascular pathologies, oncological diseases and even serious disorders of the nervous system.

On the same day, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of the risks of a "black rain" in Iran after strikes on oil facilities. Christian Lindmeier, a representative of the organization, stressed that WHO supports the recommendations of the Iranian authorities to stay indoors.
