The Kilauea volcano has erupted in Hawaii. This was announced on March 11 by the US Geological Survey in X.
"Lava fountains on Halema'uma'u crater began erupting at 9:17 a.m. local time (23:17 a.m. Moscow time) and are still ongoing. In the area of the observation decks of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, ash particles up to the size of a soccer ball were recorded," the report says.
It is specified that the height of lava fountains erupting from the southern and northern craters reaches 400 m.
The last time an eruption of this magnitude was recorded was in February.
One of the most active volcanoes in the world, Piton de la Fournaise, located on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, began erupting on March 13. It is noted that this is the second eruption of Piton de la Fournaise in less than a month. After two years of silence, the volcano woke up on January 18, its eruption lasted about 48 hours. About 20 eruptions have been recorded in the last decade.
