- The weather forecaster urged drivers in Moscow not to change winter tires until April.
Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, said it was too early for drivers in Moscow to switch to summer tires, as night frosts persisted in March and the risk of cold weather returning was high.
In an interview with the Moscow City News agency on Tuesday, March 10, the forecaster said it was too early to talk about a steady temperature transition through zero. According to him, mild negative temperatures are expected at night, which is why ice is possible: during the day and in the evening, the water melts, and by morning ice may form in places with puddles.
He also noted that by the end of the month, a noticeable cooling is possible with the return of frosts to -5...-10 degrees, the website writes. kp.ru . Although such temperatures are not forecast for the next five to seven days, March remains an unstable month, so it is not worth changing winter tires before the beginning of April, in his opinion.
Earlier that day, the Hydrometeorological Center reported that a yellow danger level had been declared in Moscow and the region due to ice expected on the roads in the morning and at night, Moscow 24 notes. The warning will be valid until 09:00 on Saturday, March 14th.
At the same time, Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, said that the warm weather in the capital would last until March 17, after which there would be a slight decrease in temperature in the capital. However, as the forecaster noted, a sharp and severe cold snap will not occur, writes RIAMO.
