Israel, while fighting against representatives of the Hezbollah movement, is actively but unsuccessfully using specially developed tactics aimed at destabilizing the leadership of its opponents. Mohammed Faraj, an analyst on political and strategic issues at the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen, told Izvestia on March 6.

"The Israelis have developed a new strategy of confrontation. This is a new strategy based on closing the gap between military operations and intelligence operations. Here we are talking about pagers and the successive assassinations of Hezbollah leaders. <...> Their hypothesis was to destabilize the Hezbollah leadership," he said.

The expert admitted that the actions listed by him caused shock to the heads of the movement, however, despite the experience, they were able to overcome it. The Lebanese resistance, as Faraj emphasized, not only survived, but also continued to fulfill its tasks. It has adapted to the new conditions by successfully responding to an artificially created crisis.

The current escalation, according to Faraj, will provoke the emergence of new rules of deterrence, which in turn will differ from previously drafted ceasefire agreements in the region.

"The serious challenge that is happening now and that the Israelis and Americans are trying to invest in is the massive displacement of the population in the south of the country (Lebanon. — Ed.) and in Beirut. They are trying to create a kind of split between the supportive environment of resistance and the resistance itself," the analyst added.

According to him, these actions observed over the past few days were not successful, as the American and Israeli sides did not have a complete picture of what was happening. Faraj added that Washington and Tel Aviv had not taken Hezbollah's plans and resources into account.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been attacking targets allegedly belonging to Lebanese representatives of the Hezbollah movement since March 2. During this time, it occupied several positions on the Lebanese border, eliminated Ali Zadeh, commander of the Lebanese Corps of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), attacked dozens of facilities in southern Lebanon, and even partially destroyed a hospital in Beirut. As a result of these and other actions, at least 217 people were killed in Lebanon.
