The weather forecaster warned of a sharp cold snap in Moscow and the region for the holidays

Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, warned of a cold snap over the holiday weekend in Moscow and the region.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, March 6, the forecaster said that, despite the difficult weather situation, the festive weekend in the capital and in the west of the Moscow region will be held with fairly comfortable spring weather. Frosts of up to -5 degrees are expected at night, and in the afternoon the temperature will rise to +1...+3, then to 3-5 degrees Celsius.

According to him, the eastern regions of the region may be briefly affected by cold air from the northeast: on Monday night in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Pavlovsky Posad and Kolomna, the temperature may drop to -12 degrees, but then it will approach zero again.

The expert also noted that a sharp warming should not be expected due to large snowdrifts. Presumably, by the middle of next week, the daytime temperature may rise to +5...+6 degrees, and a lot of sun is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There will be ice on the roads on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7. On the night of Sunday, March 8, a cold snap will begin. In Moscow, the air temperature will drop to -5 degrees, and in the Moscow region it is expected from -9 to -4 degrees. The forecaster also predicted a night cold snap on Monday, March 9, according to Moscow 24.
