Iran drone strikes ship in Strait of Hormuz
Iran has launched a drone strike on another vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the Hamshahri newspaper on March 6.
"Another vessel violating the rules in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by a drone and set on fire," the publication's Telegram channel says.
Earlier in the day, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) reported that only two cargo ships had passed through the strait in the past 24 hours, and there were no oil tankers. The center announced the almost complete suspension of commercial shipping.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on March 5 that Iran does not intend to allow merchant ships and warships of opposing states through the Strait of Hormuz in the context of the conflict. At the same time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that Iran had attacked an American tanker in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. The IRGC stated that during wartime, the rules of passage through the Strait of Hormuz are under the control of Iran.
