The Iranian Defense Council has threatened the Iraqi Kurds with retaliatory strikes if they attempt to enter Iranian territory. This was reported by the Fars news agency on March 6.

"If the groups infiltrate Iran's borders, all facilities in Iraqi Kurdistan will become a target," the text says.

The Defense Council recalled that so far the Iranian military has attacked exclusively the bases of the United States, Israel and separatist groups.

During telephone talks with the leaders of the Kurdish minority in Iran and Iraq on March 5, US President Donald Trump offered them military support to establish control over part of western Iran. According to The Washington Post, the Iraqi Kurds, who have long maintained neutrality and provided asylum to Iranian compatriots, risk destroying fragile agreements with Tehran.

On the same day, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched a missile attack on the location of Kurdish groups in Iraqi Kurdistan. It was noted that the Iranian forces launched three missile strikes at the targets.
