Electricity was cut off throughout Iraq. This was reported on Wednesday evening, March 4, by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), citing the country's Ministry of Electric Power.

"A complete shutdown of the electrical system has been [recorded] in all provinces of Iraq," the Telegram channel said.

The reasons for the incident were not reported. Later, information appeared about the restoration of the operability of individual stations and power transmission lines.

On the same day, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein phoned Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed the escalation in the Middle East. It was noted that the parties stressed the need to continue contacts and joint coordination in the context of the critical situation in the region.

Two days earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported a new series of explosions near Baghdad International Airport, where pro-Iranian protesters tried to storm the US Embassy the next day. Journalist Khalil Al-Murshdi, speaking to Izvestia, said that people who took to the streets consider Washington responsible for the escalation in the Middle East.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
