- The former Russian ambassador to Iran spoke about the future of the country after the death of Khamenei.
The Iranian regime has demonstrated resilience and has not collapsed, despite the expectations of the United States and its allies. This was stated by former Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexander Maryasov on Tuesday, March 3.
According to him, the public administration system created in the country ensures the smooth operation of government authorities and allows them to quickly compensate for personnel losses after massive US-Israeli strikes. Maryasov also noted in an interview with the Mail News that the deaths of senior leadership officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, have rallied society and strengthened the determination to fight back.
The diplomat believes that in the current circumstances, the hopes of the United States and Israel for an increase in protest sentiments in Iran look illusory. He stressed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) remains a powerful military, political and economic structure designed to protect the regime from internal and external threats, and, in his assessment, will remain loyal to the spiritual leadership while maintaining a course of non-compromise with the West.
Maryasov added that if Iran remains stable, the IRGC will continue to cooperate with religious institutions in maintaining the existing system of government, including the formation of a new top leadership. In this scenario, in his opinion, Russian-Iranian relations will continue to develop.
Earlier on March 3, Ayatollah Ali Moalemi, a member of the Iranian Council of Experts, said that the process of choosing a successor to the country's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, who died as a result of US-Israeli strikes, would not take long, RT reports.
Also on March 3, the Financial Times newspaper reported that Israel hacked traffic cameras in Tehran several years ago and, thanks to this, knew where the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was. kp.ru . One of the cameras had a particularly good viewing angle: it allowed them to see where they usually parked their cars, and gave an idea of daily life inside the strictly guarded complex. 360.ru .
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. Trump called her goal the protection of the American people. As part of the Israeli-American Operation Lion's Roar, military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. Later, on March 1, it became known that the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed as a result of Israeli attacks. An interim governing council has been established in the country. On March 2, it became known about the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's wife.
