The expert assessed the import of cars from the UAE to Russia

Against the background of events in the Middle East, car deliveries to Russia from the United Arab Emirates may temporarily stop. This opinion was expressed on March 2 by Sergey Tselikov, General Director of the analytical agency Autostat.

At the beginning of 2026, deliveries decreased significantly — to 335 cars in January, the expert noted. Last year, 10.5 thousand passenger cars were imported from the UAE to the Russian Federation. These include 2.2 thousand new (up to 3 years old) cars and 8.3 thousand used cars. The total volume of imports has tripled compared to 2024 (3.2 thousand units).

American Ram (33%) and Japanese Toyota (21%) and Mitsubishi (17%) brought the most from the UAE. Among used cars, the Japanese Toyota brand accounted for more than half of the imports (51%).

The most popular models in 2025 were the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (1,052 units) and Harrier (1,007 units), as well as the Nissan Note (978 units) and Mitsubishi Outlander (521 units).

Nikolay Ivanov, director of the new car sales department at Rolf, warned on February 13 that if BMW cars were to be supplied to Russia, there would be a shortage on the market, which would lead to an increase in the cost of cars of this brand. The specialist noted that BMW is one of the most popular brands in alternative car imports to Russia. He suggested that the German company was thinking about restrictions precisely for this reason.
