The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has called on residents of 53 villages in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate. This was announced on March 2 by the official representative of the IDF Avihai Adrai.

"For security reasons, you need to leave your homes immediately and move at least 1 km away from the villages," he said in a message to X (ex. Twitter).

According to the official, this warning is related to the IDF's need to act against the Hezbollah movement.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 2 that the Hezbollah movement claimed responsibility for the shelling of the Israeli neighborhood of Haifa on February 28. In response to Hezbollah's attacks on Israeli territory, the IDF attacked the organization's facilities in Lebanon on the same day.

Later, the Israel Defense Forces carried out a targeted strike on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, as a result of which a key representative of the movement was eliminated.

On February 28, the US Embassy in Lebanon issued an urgent appeal to American citizens to leave the republic. Individuals who decide not to follow the recommendations of the diplomatic mission should, as emphasized, be prepared for the fact that they will have to stay in Lebanon for a certain period of time.
