Iran's air defense forces shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone
The Iranian air defense forces shot down an American heavy MQ-9 Reaper drone. This was announced on March 1 by the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
"Fighters of the air defense forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hit and destroyed the US Army's state-of-the-art MQ-9 UAV using modern air defense systems," the statement said, quoted by state broadcaster IRIB.
The IRGC stressed that the country's skies are completely unsafe for any enemy aircraft. The MQ-9 is the first attack drone designed for long-term reconnaissance at high altitudes.
On February 28, the United States announced the start of a large-scale military operation with Israel against Iran. The Israeli and American military attacked the republic, including a school in the city of Minab. According to the latest data, 148 children died as a result of the attack.
In response, Tehran has fired missiles and drones at American military bases located in the Middle East. Explosions also occurred in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Russia's permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, said on February 28 that the aggression directed by the United States and Israel against Iran has already led to an aggravation of the situation in the region and may go beyond its borders.
