U.S. citizens urged to leave Lebanon
The US Embassy in Lebanon has issued an urgent appeal to American citizens to leave the republic. The corresponding statement on February 28 was posted on the department's website with reference to the US State Department.
"The State Department is urging U.S. citizens to leave Lebanon now while commercial options are available. We urge U.S. citizens not to travel to Lebanon," the text says.
Individuals who decide not to follow the recommendations of the diplomatic mission should, as emphasized, be prepared for the fact that they will have to stay in Lebanon for a certain period of time. Representatives of this category were urged to prepare backup options on their own and not count on an assisted flight.
