Former adviser to the UN Secretary General assessed the consequences of Israel's attack on Iran

If Iran resists the Israeli attack and a new round of escalation in the Middle East, it will lead to the strengthening of a multipolar world. Igor Nikulin, a former adviser to the UN Secretary General, expressed this opinion in a conversation with Izvestia on February 28.

According to him, the Israeli attack is an illegal attempt to overthrow the Iranian leadership led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Peseshkian.

"Attacks on nuclear facilities, power plants, and nuclear centers are blatant violations of international law, which the West is so fond of referring to," the expert added.

Nikulin also noted that many countries "will join the fight against world imperialism" if Iran stands up to Israeli aggression.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on targets in Iran on the morning of February 28. US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States has launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, assuring that "it will take care to deprive Iran of the opportunity to obtain nuclear weapons."

Later, Iran fired rockets towards Israel. The US Fifth Fleet maintenance center was also shelled in Bahrain. In addition, Iran attacked four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
