The man who set off an explosion near a traffic police car on the square of the Savelovsky railway station in Moscow turned out to be a 22-year-old native of Udmurtia. This was announced on February 24 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

"During the investigative actions in the criminal case of an attempt on the life of traffic police officers and illegal trafficking of explosive devices, the identity of the alleged suspect who died at the scene of the crime near the Savyolovsky railway station was established as soon as possible. He turned out to be a 22-year-old native of the Udmurt Republic," she said.

Petrenko added that on February 22, the suspect left St. Petersburg for Moscow by train. His route in the capital region has already been established, and his social circle and motives are being investigated.

The press service of the Russian Interior Ministry reported that an explosion occurred in a traffic police car in the northeast of Moscow on February 24, killing a law enforcement officer and injuring two others.

The cause of the explosion near the traffic police car in Moscow was the self-detonation of a criminal, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation clarified later. The identity of the attacker who died at the scene of the incident is being established. The families of those killed in the car explosion in the capital, as well as the victims, will receive the necessary assistance.\
