Two people were killed and two others injured in an explosion of a patrol car on the square of the Savelovsky railway station in Moscow. A criminal case was opened into the incident. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
The circumstances of the incident
The incident occurred on February 24 at about 00:05 Moscow time on the square of the Savelovsky railway station. An unknown man approached the staff of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Department of Internal Affairs of the North-Eastern District, who were in an official car on the patrol route. Immediately after that, an unidentified device detonated.
The press service of the Russian Interior Ministry reported that as a result of the incident, one policeman and an attacker were killed. Two more law enforcement officers were hospitalized.
Investigation of the case
As the source of Izvestia noted, operational services are working at the scene of the incident. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, a number of forensic examinations, including medical and explosive ones, will be scheduled in the near future.
In addition, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation added that a criminal case had been opened into the incident on the grounds of crimes under Article 317 of the Criminal Code ("Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer") and Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal trafficking in explosive devices").
