Europe will have to restore energy relations with Russia in the future, and the Nord Stream project may play a key role. This opinion was expressed by international security expert Mark Episkopos on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"As I stated many years ago, Europe is under enormous economic pressure to resume its energy relations with Russia after the end of the war. We have a unique opportunity to ensure that this happens in the interests of the United States, and Nord Stream plays a key role here," he wrote.

According to the expert, economic factors will push European countries to revise their energy policy.

On January 30, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on the lack of reaction from Germany to the gas supply proposal. It was noted that Moscow does not intend to persuade Berlin and sees no prospects for returning to a constructive energy dialogue.

On November 17, 2025, the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Cavalla, said that Germany should resume importing Russian gas and restore the Nord Stream gas pipelines. He also noted that Germany currently has the highest electricity prices in Europe, which makes many entrepreneurs refuse to open production facilities in the country.
