The expert spoke about the ways for the leadership to control the chaos
In conditions of constant uncertainty and technological leaps, it is important for managers to maintain internal support and clarity of thinking. Dmitry Monakhov, General Director and chief designer of the El Five company, told Izvestia about this on February 22.
According to the expert, the modern environment is characterized by information overload and accelerated decision-making, which makes the usual management models ineffective. In such circumstances, the main task becomes to maintain stability in order to avoid fuss and loss of focus, which lead to reduced performance and increased anxiety among the team.
As Monakhov noted, structuring is the first tool for stability — breaking down complex tasks into stages and introducing clear restrictions. This allows you to describe the problem with parameters and reduce emotional stress. The second important factor is the discipline of reaction, which implies a pause before making a decision to separate facts from interpretations.
"The third element is identity. In the face of constant changes, it is easy to start adjusting to the environment, gradually losing your own bearings. Sustainability requires a clear understanding of which principles remain unchanged under any circumstances, and for me it is a responsibility to make decisions and be open in assessing risks. When the team understands that the basic principles do not change under the influence of market conditions, trust arises. And trust is the main stabilizer in an unstable environment," the expert said.
An important part of the control loop is error correction, where any failure is considered as a source of data for strategy adjustments, Monakhov added. For example, in engineering, every deviation is recorded and analyzed: the error contains data. Ignoring this data leads to a repeat of the failure, which allows you to strengthen the control loop. In business, this manifests itself in reconsideration of decisions, in a willingness to change strategy if the facts speak about it directly.
"Resilience is becoming a strategic skill for managers, engineers, and anyone else who makes decisions in the face of uncertainty. External circumstances cannot be completely controlled, but the internal architecture can be built consciously, regularly checking its strength and relevance," concluded Monakhov.
In 2026, 62% of employers will return employees to the office and tighten the rules of removal. As specified on February 18, the survey was conducted among 3,500 managers and HR directors of small, medium and large businesses.
