DIA reported an increase in Russian deposits in 2025
Deposits of Russian citizens in 2025 increased by 16.3% to 65.2 trillion rubles. This was announced on February 18 by the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA).
"Household deposits increased by 16.3% to 65.2 trillion rubles, deposits from individual entrepreneurs by 12.5% to 2.85 trillion rubles, funds in escrow accounts by 16.7% to 7.17 trillion rubles," the agency's Telegram channel says.
At the same time, the total amount of funds in deposits that are subject to insurance amounted to 85.8 trillion rubles by the beginning of 2026. Thus, it amounted to 14.7% over the year.
It is noted that over the past year, deposits from individuals in the range of 3 million to 10 million rubles grew the fastest — by 32.6% in amount and by 32.3% in number of depositors. In addition, citizens often contributed amounts from 1.4 million to 3 million rubles — by 23.8% in total and by 22.2% in the number of depositors, respectively.
Vasily Melnikov, an independent financial consultant, said on February 17 that some bank deposits with attractive returns may contain a hidden risk component and may not be classic deposits. According to him, customers often focus only on the product name.
