- Politico learned about the disruption of Callas' meeting with EU foreign ministers in Munich
An informal meeting of the Foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) initiated by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference was disrupted due to the fact that potential participants of the meeting left. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on February 15.
"An informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, which EU Chief Diplomat Kaya Kallas wanted to see among the ministers present at the Munich Security Conference, was canceled because the vast majority of ministers had already left," the article says.
It is emphasized that in 2025, Callas also organized a similar event, during which certain tensions arose among the ministers. This year, as the unnamed interlocutors of the publication explained, there were no disputes due to the fact that organizational problems arose.
Politico reported two days earlier that another informal meeting, which Callas managed to hold on the sidelines of the Munich Conference, turned into a failure. It was noted that the leaders of eight countries were not invited to the meeting, and those who were expected were late.
In May last year, Senator Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Russian Federation's commission on Information policy and Interaction with the media, said that Callas was not taken seriously by most of the members of the association. At the same time, the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation noted that Brussels began to admit its mistake in appointing Callas to the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
