Due to the shortage of young conscripts, the Ukrainian command is sending elderly fighters to the front lines in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. This was reported on February 13 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"The young have run out at the front, only the old, elderly servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.)," the source told RIA Novosti.

He added that almost 90% of the soldiers who have recently surrendered in Sumy and Kharkiv regions are military personnel over the age of 60.

Ukraine has stepped up information operations in the Sumy area in order to convince the population of the successes at the front. As it became known on February 13, the distribution of staged materials was noticed – fabricated videos of the installation of flags and disinformation about alleged attempts by Russian units to move towards the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "through pipes."

Russian soldiers, in a conversation with Izvestia military commander Tatyana Simonenkova on February 3, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Sumy region were actively mining settlements, including the homes of local residents, trying to slow down the advance of the Russian Armed Forces.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
