External forces are trying to exacerbate the energy crisis in Cuba in order to incite discontent among the population. This was stated on February 12 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

"We proceed from the fact that the actions of external forces seeking to exacerbate the energy crisis in Cuba, including the cessation of flights to the island, are designed, among other things, to provoke discontent among the population and foreign citizens who have experienced inconvenience against this background," she said.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Russian diplomats are providing Russians in Cuba with the necessary assistance to return to their homeland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Russians to follow the recommendations more closely and take all risks into account when planning trips, Zakharova added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the US actions on the blockade of Cuba wrong. He believes that the American blockade has provoked problems in the island state. In addition, Peskov added that the lack of fuel for transporting medicines and transporting patients is bad.

Earlier, on February 11, Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines made adjustments to the flight program from Havana and Varadero to Moscow due to difficulties with fuel for aircraft. The message emphasizes that airline flights will be temporarily suspended until the situation changes.
