Films will be checked for discrediting traditional values
Films without a rental certificate will be checked for discrediting traditional values. This became known from the publication of the documents on February 9 on the website of the official Internet portal of legal information.
As follows from the documents, the check is initiated after receiving a complaint. A council will be convened at the Ministry of Culture, which has the right to make appropriate recommendations. For additional evaluation, the Ministry of Culture may request the positions of educational and cultural institutions, as well as artists and "other persons."
The order will enter into force on March 1, 2026.
On January 29, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced that the number of viewers attending Russian film screenings had increased 2.5 times in three years, reaching about 100 million people per year. She clarified that every year more and more films with state financial support are being released nationally.
