The expert predicted fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate this week

This week, we expect fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate in the range of 74.80–80 rubles, euro — 88.50–94 rubles, yuan — 10.75–11.40 rubles. The strong position of the ruble is still influenced by the increased supply of foreign currency and the continued interest in the domestic currency against the background of the high rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. Spartak Sobolev, head of the Alfa-Forex Investment Strategy Research Department, told Izvestia about this on February 9.

On February 7, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the exchange rate of the American currency at 77 rubles, the European currency at 91 rubles, and the Chinese currency at 11.1 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Exchange, on February 9, the yuan is trading at 11.1 rubles.

"Next Friday, at a scheduled meeting, the mega-regulator will announce a decision on the key rate and assess its trajectory for the first half of the year. A possible gradual easing of monetary policy will deter the Russian currency from excessive appreciation," Sobolev concluded.

The market will keep an eye on geopolitics and prepare for the February meeting of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on the rate.
