Hungary will not allow the arrogant attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards Budapest and the Hungarian people. This was announced on February 7 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking at an election event in Szombathely.

"Everything will have consequences in due course. <...> It was a long time ago when we looked like weaklings and allowed ourselves to be treated arrogantly. That's in the past. It is better for all our neighbors, especially Ukraine, to understand this," he said, broadcast by M1 TV channel.

According to Orban, Hungary will not tolerate the forced mobilization of ethnic Hungarians from Transcarpathia into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto will put this issue on the agenda in Brussels, the prime minister assured.

Orban also said that the Hungarian government would provide support to the families of Transcarpathian Hungarians who died both at the front and as a result of mobilization.

On the same day, Orban said that Ukraine had turned into an enemy of Hungary amid its desire to deprive Budapest of Russian energy resources. The politician added that Kiev violates Hungary's fundamental interests by constantly inciting Brussels to abandon cheap Russian energy. According to Orban, it's not even an opponent who can do this, but an enemy of Hungary.

At the same time, the Hungarian Prime Minister warned Europe against sending troops to Ukraine, saying that his country would not participate in this. According to him, if European troops are in Ukraine, it will mean a direct conflict with Russia.
