- TRT Haber reported on the detention of two Turks in Istanbul for working for the Mossad
Turkey's national intelligence organization has detained two Turkish citizens in Istanbul suspected of collaborating with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. This was reported on February 6 by the TRT Haber TV channel, citing intelligence sources.
"The National Intelligence Organization (MIT), during an operation conducted in Istanbul, detained Mehmet Budak Derya and Vesent Kerimoglu, who were found to be conducting espionage activities in Turkey on behalf of the Israeli intelligence service," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, the operation was carried out jointly with the Istanbul Security Directorate and in coordination with the prosecutor's office. The detention was the result of prolonged surveillance of businessmen who allegedly set up a shell company abroad and used it to carry out tasks for Israeli intelligence.
Another Turkish resident was detained for cooperating with Israeli intelligence on October 3, 2025. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the local security directorate as part of an investigation led by the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office.
