Lavrov spoke about the "clandestine" contacts of European leaders with Russia
On February 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that some European leaders were "clandestinely" in contact with the Russian side.
"I won't hide it, we have contacts with some of the leaders of Europe. They call and ask not to announce these conversations. Some even appear here and have clandestine contacts," Lavrov said.
According to the Foreign Minister, such contacts take place on the initiative of the European representatives themselves. At the same time, the minister stressed that the content of such confidential conversations does not differ from the public statements of European politicians.
"But nothing that the European partners tell us about their ideas during such closed, confidential contacts is any different from what they say publicly — all the same calls," he said.
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said yesterday that attempts by a number of European countries to interfere and hinder the settlement process indicate progress in the negotiations.
